Solidarity with Judges Amid Protests in Mexico City

The president minister of the Supreme Court, Norma Lucia Piña, expressed her solidarity with the two judges who were encircled by the police of Mexico City during the Ibero-American Congress on Constitutional Law. Piña highlighted the reaction of the authorities to the protest of judicial officials outside the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome.

At the event, Piña stated: "It is not possible for me to begin without expressing my utmost solidarity with the two judges and with the jurisdictional staff who, while exercising their right to freedom of expression, were subjected to an excessive use of state force." The minister also pointed out that it is crucial to remember that the thin line between disagreement and intolerance can lead to authoritarianism when it comes to individuals committed to defending the Constitution.

Judge Mónica Pérez Arce, one of the affected, denounced the operation as an act of repression, refuting claims that there was access to Formula 1 in the encircled area. For her part, in an interview on Aristegui en vivo, Marlene Ángeles, amparo judge, detailed that the encirclement lasted longer than what was reported at President Claudia Sheinbaum's morning conference.
